Drink World-Class Wines, Eat Bush Tucker, Sample Local Brews. Bushtucker Gourmet Winery Tour in Margaret River, Western Australia,
visits five of the best local wineries and a brewery. Enjoy a fun lunch with bush tucker.
Spend a day touring wineries in Margaret
River, Western Australia, learning about Aboriginal history and tasting
wine. Try some bush tucker, the wild foods of Australia, during a lovely winery
lunch.
The Itinerary
A comfortable van with a friendly
driver picks up guests from all accommodations in and around Margaret River at
approximately 10:30 a.m. A casual drive through the vineyards and scenic native
forests gives the guide time to tell a little about Aboriginal history, the
history of wine making in Margaret River, and describe what the day
entails.
The tour includes four winery estates, a brewery, cheese
tasting, and chocolate factory tastings. Before lunch three wineries are
visited, with the opportunity to taste up to twenty wines. By the end of the day
another twenty wines will be offered.
The Lunch
An estate
will be privately booked for the hearty winery lunch served with a selection of
wines to experience wine and food pairing. Vegetarians are well catered for, and
a selection of bush tucker is available to try. Some of the options might be
kangaroo meat, witjuti grub pate, smoked turkey breast, Kakadu plum, bush tomato chutney, Illawarra plum chutney, wild celery, and hibiscus
flower put into sparkling wine.
After lunch treats include five cheese
tastings, chocolate tastings, yogurts, ice cream, coffee and hot
chocolate.
The Tour Includes:
- 40 Wines
- Five Liqueurs
- Port wines
- A stop at a local brewery
By the end of
the day everyone's relaxed, happy, and have become fast friends. All of the
cellars visited offer a 10-20% discount on purchases, and by 5:00 p.m. the
guests are delivered back to their accommodations, tired and
satiated.
This is just one example of myriad options for touring Margaret
River Wineries in Western Australia. Another is to simply get into a car and
tour the wineries privately. A winery tour here is like California’s Napa Valley
used to be years ago, before it became a world-class destination. The tastings
are typically free, the tasting rooms not crowded, and the wine makers
themselves are usually on hand to discuss their wines.
The Margaret River
Wine Region also has lovely spas and fine cuisine, and the coast line is
brimming with private coves and white sand beaches. Some of the best waves can
be found on this coast, where professional surfing competitions are hosted
annually.
Experience the best of Western Australia and take a Bushtucker Gourmet Winery Tour to get a
real flavor of Margaret River.
